No more Spam!

Good thing I have that spam filter that Mr.G was annoyed about earlier… I just got hit with some major spam!. I hope that won’t be a regular occurrence.

UPDATE:
Well the spam is a regular occurrence, easy enough to stop since it was all coming from the IP address 212.117.183.163. I just blocked that IP from entering my domain. Apparently this is a common blog spammer, so I suggest that if you have a blog too, you should also block that IP.

Kyle’s Rant!

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Working midnights sucks… I just had to put that out there for those who wanted to know.

That’s about all I have for today. I should be starting my master bathroom project tomorrow. First thing to do is fix the plumbing. I’ll take some pics from start to finish if I can get my hands on a camera.

CSS3

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Okay so I’m playing with some of these new features that css3 has to offer. Unfortunately most of them aren’t supported by Internet Explorer and definitely none of them are supported by Explorer 6 (which we happen to use at my work). So for you Firefox and Safari users this should work out fine.

So far I have implemented the border-radius feature and am going to try the @face-font, so you should start to see some changes occurring soon. (but not if you use IE)

The border radius is still in development if you want to use them they are browser specific at the moment:

* -moz-border-radius-topleft / -webkit-border-top-left-radius
* -moz-border-radius-topright / -webkit-border-top-right-radius
* -moz-border-radius-bottomleft / -webkit-border-bottom-left-radius
* -moz-border-radius-bottomright / -webkit-border-bottom-right-radius

For the custom fonts (which actually worked in IE6) use:

@font-face {
    font-family: ’3dumb’;
    src: url(‘font/3Dumb.eot’);
    src: local(’3Dumb’), local(’3dumb’), url(‘font/3Dumb.ttf’) format(‘truetype’);
    }

Where the url(‘font/3Dumb.ttf’) is the directory on your server where the font is uploaded. You can find free fonts at Font Squirrel

I’ll be sure to add more as I implement them.

Enjoy the show!

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

It’s been awhile since I posted and I really have nothing really to blog about at this moment. I have been working on my basement hanging doors and painting the wine room but I have no pictures available yet. The bathroom project is on hold for the time being so I have no pictures for that either. Anyway to keep you entertained I thought I would leave you with this video of “the 100 cheesiest movie quotes of all time”.

Enjoy the show!

Check your meat!

The ET-72 Redi-Chek Remote Cooking Thermometer from Maverick consists of two separate units plus a 8.5-inch stainless steel temperature probe on a 39-inch stainless steel wire. The wireless sensor/transmitter has a plug for the probe plus its own food temperature display. You place the transmitter in a location near the oven or grill but away from direct heat. The portable monitor and receiver unit simultaneously displays the current and target food temperatures. It also has a countdown/count-up timer. You can use the timer and temperature modes at the same time. On the transmitter, the internal food temperature is displayed in °F in digits about 7/16 inch tall. On the receiver, the internal food temperature is displayed in your choice of °F or °C in digits about 9/16 inch tall. Target food temperature digits and timer digits on the receiver are a little smaller.

I finally got a Wii!!

Wii

Time waster!

Everybody I know has one of these things, except me! We finally convinced my parents to sell us theirs, which was collecting dust and hidden in their entertainment unit. I guess that bathroom project of mine will be put on hold for a little while now… and the basement.

I was playing with the setting last night and you can set the screen mode. 4:3 or 16:9 but either way seemed to make no difference it always had the bars in either side of my TV and stayed in the 4:3 format. Oh well, I’m pretty sure the Wii will end up in our basement as soon as I clean it up a little.

Now we need some games for our Wii, you can only build so many of the Mii characters then it becomes boring… Any suggestions?
