Here's a little about me:

My name is Kyle Galbraith, I'm 31, I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and I enjoy design. I have a full time job in the telecommunications business which pays decent so I won't leave and do what I really like, web design, and as a result designing is just something i do in my spare time. Most of my abilities for HTML and CSS are self taught though I have taken advanced c+ and micro controller programming through college and gain some of my coding knowledge through that. I also work programing various types of telephone switches for my regular job so coding seems to come naturally to me. When I'm not working my primary job I'm designing something; architectural drawings of furniture or various structures, testing my limits with graphic designs, or developing a web layout for friends, family or just for fun.

I code in W3C compliant xhtml and CSS. I am also experimenting with Flash, JavaScript and PHP. If you would like to talk to me about a project that you have in mind, or you have an opportunity you would like to present to me, please contact me by e-mail at:

Otherwise feel free to browse my web portfolio and let me know what you think.

whats the main difference between xhtml and html

question 2. is there a difference between java and php and if so what is it

    • Yes lots!
I’m still trying to learn PHP but I think the main difference is that PHP is run on the server side rather then from your browser. People can turn off Java but as far as i know you can’t turn off PHP because the server you are viewing the web page from in doing all the work.

  11. MR_K says:

what type of web server do you run.

    • Linux server running Apache 2.2.11

      • MR_K says:

What type of advice do you give in creating your own web server. ie examples of costs, time involved and experience needed.

      • The cost depends on what you need. Unless you are hosing a ton of sites you are probably best at purchasing a hosting plan from a reseller. That way you don’t have to worry about backing up your server or having redundancy. Once you are established then you may want to go your own hosting route. I’m sure you could also get up and running by picking up an old junker server for a few bucks slapping on some Apache open source software pay your internet service provider for a static IP address and be up and running in less than a day for around minimal dollars, but you better know what your doing if you go that route.

do you have any “how to” on setting up a web server.

  13. MR_K says:

what do you charge for web hosting services.

  14. MR_K says:

do you have a price list for services?

  15. MR_K says:

I just found $XX.XX price on YYY.com can you match or beat that price.

    • maybe if the price is $XXX.XX that could be possible, however people charge based on their design capabilities so if site yyy.com is selling a design for $XX.XX it’s like going to a Lexus dealership and saying the Chevy has the same colour car as your Lexus, will you match the price?
